Home Sleep Study
A home sleep study is done at the comfort of your own home, in your own bed, to determine if you have a sleep disorder such as obstructive sleep apnea. It is a simple and cost effective way to test for a sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, by reducing the waiting time for diagnosis and costs associated with a in-clinic sleep study.
A to Z Sleep centers is now offering patients home sleep study testing with ambulatory testing devices for diagnosing Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) while sleeping in their own bed. Dr. Ailani & Dr. Zacharis has joined the revolution of home sleep testing for the estimated 20 million patients with OSA. Dr. Ailani & Dr. Zacharis also are one of the first physicians in the Daytona Beach area to offer Home Sleep Testing to patients.
Some home testing units are worn on the head, while others are small boxes that can lay in the bed with the patient. All units are FDA approved & covered by insurance companies. The units can monitor the patient 1-3 nights depending on length of time the physician prescribes.
Units provide a profile of the patient’s breathing during sleep in their normal sleeping environment. The device collects physiological data while the patient is asleep, and integrates the data with clinical history and physical data to determine presence and severity of OSA.
Home testing is fairly accurate compared to an in lab sleep study which would of course has the most pristine accuracy on results. Home testing improves diagnostic speed & accuracy & increases patient comfort. In these challenging economic times it also creates and effective, low cost alternative to the current sleep testing solutions that are available.
